Owen Jarus

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Owen and I’m a writer based in Toronto Canada. My main areas of expertise are history, archaeology and urban & regional planning. I have also written articles on health, politics, community events, education and amateur sports.  

My work has appeared in a wide variety of publications including Live Science, The Independent (UK), The Canadian Press (CP), The Associated Press (AP), Guelph Mercury, The Mississauga News, Heritage Key and Planning Magazine.

From July 2009 to September 2010 I served as the Toronto Correspondent for Heritage Key. It’s a multimedia publication, based in London UK, that publishes news and feature stories on ancient history and archaeology. During that time more than a dozen of my stories were re-published in the science section of The Independent (UK), a major British newspaper.  

It is often said that journalists produce the first rough draft of history. If that is the case then I would like to think that my goal has been to produce the first rough draft of ancient history. At least the first version meant for popular consumption.
